An Uphill Struggle

20/11/2016

Daniel Walsh, our site manager at Preston Guildhall & Michael Grain, the resident painter and decorator, set up their racing bikes on turbo trainers at the Preston Guildhall in aid of Children in Need.

They cycled virtually non-stop for 8 hours for a distance of 105 miles and raised over £465.00, with donations still coming in!

Throughout the day they were supported by colleagues, friends and visitors. Richard Simkin the operations manager for Preston Guildhall said “What Daniel and Mike did is very admirable. When they approached us with the idea we were more than happy to support them”.

Daniel’s daughter Gabby, aged 12, says she is very proud of Dad. Daniel says “Supporting Children in Need is a worthwhile cause and one that Mike and I could do something to help”.

What is even more commendable is Daniel is new to cycling and whilst Mike, who is a seasoned cyclist and fund raiser, has previously only ever done 5 hours cycling at this intensity. A great effort and well done to them both.
