KIDSCAN CHARITY GOLF DAY RAISES £10,700

23/9/2019

R&J Facilities in conjunction with Kingsland Drinks sponsored a charity golf day for Kidscan Children’s Cancer Research at Lytham Green Drive Golf Club on 06 September

The event is organised annually for children’s charities, and this is the 7th year it has been held at LGDGC.

The weather forecast was completely accurate as the wind and rain stopped at 11 o’clock and the 28 teams set off for a 16 hole Texas Scramble with the two par 5’s as a separate competition sponsored by the Lady Captain, Jane Dickens, in recognition of the Solheim Cup 2019 at Gleneagles.

The course was in a superb condition and the scores reflected this with the Kingsland Trophy being won by the Club Captain Tony Baxter, Steve Ellis, Rick Anderson and Doug Chilton with a score of 48.6.

The “Solheim Cup” was won by “the Young Guns” led by Vinny Donohoe
The sponsors said, “How much they and the teams look forward to the event each year because of the welcome they receive and how the course is always of a consistently high standard.”

The MC for the evening dinner was Janet Walker and the auction prizes ranged from Lytham Festival Prom tickets, donated by Cuffe & Taylor, tickets for the Burnley V Norwich game, donated by B&D Print.

Dawn Walsh (Director RJF) sponsored the Putting Competition again this year which was won by Ian Wilson.

Derek Walsh presented the Wooden Spoon prize to Susan Havenhand, the Club’s Lady President, and her team “Lady P and the Thunderbirds”
The Chief Executive of Kidscan, Bob Carter, was overjoyed with the generosity and achievement of raising such an amount which will help more children “thrive and survive”

Plans are already underway for next year’s event on September 18th, 2020.
